Rodin House Event Manager

Compensation: $10.00/hour

The Rodin House Manager Team is integral to supporting Rodin programs and traditions and helping to create a vibrant house community. The Rodin House Event Manager is responsible for providing training, evaluations, and event oversight for Rodin College House.

Terms of Appointment:

  • 8-12 hours per week, with at least 4 hours a week working in the House Office and Rodin Resource Room. Includes some evening/weekend hours
  • Attend weekly staff meetings
  • If possible, we would prefer House Managers to move into their Rodin assignments on Sunday, August 22, 2021 for the fall semester, with training beginning on Monday, August 23, 2021
  • Managers will be required to return to their Rodin assignments on Monday, January 10, 2022 for the spring semester, with a one-day training session on Tuesday, January 11, 2022. These dates are dependent upon the University’s academic calendar.

Eligibility:

  • Must have a minimum 2.50 GPA at the time of application, at the time of job offer, and at the end of the academic year prior to employment. Staff are expected to maintain the 2.50 GPA minimum each semester throughout employment
  • By employment start date, the House Event Manager must be a full time student at the University of Pennsylvania and resident of Rodin College House for the 2021-2022 academic year in good standing with the University and within the College House system

Position Expectations:

  • Supervision
    • Train and evaluate the House Event Assistant staff
    • Address staff issues in consultation with the House Director and House Coordinator
  • Programming
    • Coordinate and lead programming efforts for Rodin College House. These include, but are not limited to: ongoing signature programs (such as Tower Hour, Sunday Bruch, and Monday Morning Mirth), House faculty programming, Annual events, House Event Manager initiated programs
    • Manage Rooftop Lounge requests and reservations
    • Maintain House Event Assistant event schedule
    • Coordinate Rodin Welcome Week and Winter Welcome programming
  • Administration:
    • Reconcile purchases made with student program card in a timely fashion in accordance with University policy
    • Understand and utilize the Rodin House website as appropriate
    • Maintain inventory system of Rodin storage spaces
    • Create schedule for maintenance of display areas throughout Rodin (elevator banks, underground, Rooftop, etc)
    • Manage budget for Rodin programs and events
  • Community Engagement:
    • House Managers should contribute to creating respectful and caring communities and promoting academic success among Rodin residents.
    • Maintain a consistent presence in the House Office and Rodin Resource Room
  • Social Media & Documentation
    • House Managers should collaborate with the House Event staff to keep Rodin’s Social Media Presence active and vibrant! Update the Instagram story once a week with upcoming events in Rodin
    • Find fun and creative ways to check in with the communities in Rodin using social media appropriately
    • Work with the House Resource and Event Assistants to ensure that there are photos taken at Rodin’s programs

Termination:

The appointment may be terminated prior to its normal expiration date if the House Event Manager fails to perform the above specified duties or for conduct at variance with that expected of a House Event Manager, or if status as an undergraduate student in good standing (full time with a GPA of 2.5 or above and limited behavioral issues) lapses.
