Rodin College House Manager

Compensation: $12.00/hour

The Rodin House Manager Team is integral to supporting Rodin programming and traditions while helping to create a vibrant house community. The Rodin House Managers are responsible for collaborating to supervise the Rodin House Assistants, operate the Rodin Resource Room, and support all aspects of programming in Rodin College House. In addition to these shared responsibilities, the Rodin House Manager will work in teams to reinforce community building and engagement through auxiliary house initiatives.

Terms of Appointment:

  • 8-12 hours per week, with at least 2 hours a week working in the House Office and Rodin Resource Room respectively. Includes some evening/weekend hours
  • Attend weekly manager meetings with the Rodin house administration, as well as monthly full team meetings
  • Managers will be required to move into their Rodin assignments between August 19 and August 21, 2022. Mandatory Rodin House Manager training will begin Monday, August 22, 2022
  • Managers will be required to return to their Rodin assignments on January 8, 2023 for the spring semester, with a one-day training session on Monday January 11th, 2023.

Eligibility:

  • Must have a minimum 2.0 GPA at the time of application, at the time of job offer, and at the end of the academic year prior to employment. Student leaders are expected to maintain the 2.0 GPA minimum each semester throughout employment
  • By employment start date, the Rodin House Manager must be a full-time student at the University of Pennsylvania and resident of Rodin College House for the 2022-2023 academic year in good standing with the University and within the College House system

Position Expectations:

  • Supervision:
    • Train, evaluate, and lead the Rodin House Assistants in programming and event efforts, administrative procedures, and general house support
    • Create and implement Resource Room schedule to maintain consistent hours of operation
    • Address team issues in collaboration with the House Director and House Coordinator
    • Schedule and lead weekly meetings with the House Assistants
  • Administration
    • Inventory House programming supplies and assets
    • Host office hours in the Rodin House Office at least once a week
    • Develop budget for the Rodin Resource Room and student driven program initiatives
    • Ensure house AV/Tech needs are being met with regular walkthroughs inspections
    • Reconcile purchases made with student program card in a timely fashion in accordance with university policy
    • Understand and utilize the Rodin House website as appropriate
    • Examine, create and/or modify Rodin Resource Room policies. Communicate these policies to necessary stakeholders.  
    • Regularly update inventory for Rodin Resource Room
  • Programming:
    • Coordinate and lead programming efforts for Rodin College House. These include, but are not limited to: ongoing signature programs (such as Tower Hour and Sunday Brunch, Rodin Breaks), annual special events, other Rodin House Manager program related to auxiliary assignments
    • Work collaboratively with other Managers and Rodin House Assistants on house wide programming and event support
    • Be present and have an active role during move-in, Rodin Welcome Week, and Winter Welcome.

Auxiliary Roles:

In addition to shared managerial responsibilities, Rodin House Office Managers are expected to fulfill one of the following auxiliary responsibilities.

  • Internal Operations and Initiatives (2 Managers)
    • Assist with the coordination of Rodin academic programming, such as Rodin 24, Rodin Rising, Research Fellow Program, Rodin Study Groups, and Final Exam Breaks.
    • Manage Rooftop Lounge reservation requests and organize procedures for programs that require deposits and/or sign-up sheets.
    • Serve as the point of contact for Rodin House Faculty and Resident Advisor team in the implementation and support of house programming
    • Act as a liaison between the Rodin House Council and the Rodin College House Leadership Team

 

  • External Operations and Initiatives (2 Managers)
    • Lead the promotional efforts of Rodin House initiatives, including (but not limited to) program promotion, maintaining a consistent social media presence, promotional material/strategies for House and department-wide initiatives
    • Manage Rodin’s social media presence, and creatively facilitate engagement among residents
    • Maintain and update display spaces in Rodin
    • Acts as a liaison for the Rodin House Office with the Social Deduction Club and other student organizations looking to collaborate on house events
    • Document Rodin house programs and events
    • Support collaborative programming between Rodin and campus partners

Termination:

The appointment may be terminated prior to its normal expiration date if the Rodin House Manager fails to perform the above specified duties or for conduct at variance with that expected of a student leader, or if status as an undergraduate student in good standing (full time with a GPA of 2.0 or above and limited behavioral issues) lapses.
