Resource Room Policies

By borrowing items from the Resource Room, you are agreeing to the following policies:

  1. Items can only be borrowed by Rodin residents, staff, and faculty.
  2. The borrower is responsible for replacing or paying to replace any lost or damaged items.
  3. Applicable fees must be paid in cash at time of checkout.
  4. Your privilege to borrow items from the Resource Room Policies is subject to change based on late penalties, abuse of privileges, and Rodin residency status.
  5. You will receive an e-mail with the subject line "Resource Room Rental Reminder" on the day that your items are due at the same time when you borrowed the item. To avoid incurring a late penalty, the item must be returned within one day of receiving the Resource Room Rental Reminder.

Late Penalties

Residents who borrow items from the Resource Room are responsible for returning those items on time. Resource Room hours are posted on the House Website and outside the Resource Room. Resource Room items may also be returned to the Rodin House Office during regular office business hours.

A late penalty is incurred when items are not returned within one calendar day of their due date*. Until the overdue items are returned, residents will not be able to borrow items from the Resource Room.

Rather than charging late fees, Rodin uses a three strike system for late Resource Room items returned within one week of their due date. After three offenses, you will lose Resource Room borrowing privileges for the remainder of the semester.

Items returned more than one week late will result in automatic suspension of Resource Room privileges for the remainder of the semester, regardless of previous offenses.

Any individual who has their Resource Room privileges suspended during two separate semesters will be permanently suspended from using the Resource Room.

*When the Resource Room is closed for breaks, the item must be returned on the first day the Resource Room reopens.

Replacement Fees

When a Resource Room item is more than one week overdue, you will receive an e-mail with a final due date for the item (typically one week although you may be given more time because of breaks and holidays). If the item is not returned by the due date, we will replace the item, and you will be charged for the cost of the replacement. Residents will also be charged to replace any item that is not returned by the end of the Fall or Spring semester.

Rental Limits

In order to ensure that all residents can make use of the Rodin Resource Room, there are some limits on borrowing multiple items simultaneously.

  • Residents may borrow a maximum of 8 total items in any given rental category. Board games are further limited to a maximum of 2.
  • Residents may not borrow multiples of the same item.

The Resource Room staff reserves the right to deny rentals that may have an impact on the availability of our items to other Rodin residents.
