Rodin College House Assistant

Compensation: $10.00/hour

The Rodin House Assistant team is committed to supporting the administrative and programming functions of the House and maintaining Rodin's legacy as a place the residents can call their home away from home.  House Assistants collaborate with the House Office and our team of managers to provide support for programming and within the Rodin Resource Room.

Terms of Appointment:

  • 8-12 hours per week, with 2-6 hours a week working in the Resource Room during the evening and some weekend hours
  • Attend regular meetings as discussed with House Managers, and one monthly meeting with the House Office.
  • House Assistants will be required to move into their Rodin assignments by Wednesday , August 21, 2022, for the fall semester, with training starting on Thursday , August 22, 2022.

Eligibility:

  • Must have a minimum 2.0 GPA at the time of application, at the time of job offer, and at the end of the academic year prior to employment. Student leaders are expected to maintain the 2.0 GPA minimum each semester throughout employment
  • By employment start date, the House Assistant must be a full-time student at the University of Pennsylvania and resident of Rodin College House for the 2022-2023 academic year in good standing with the University and within the College House system

Programming Expectations:

House Assistants are integral to executing programs, supporting the Resource Room, and contributing to the vision of Rodin College House. House Assistants work collaboratively with the House Director, House Coordinator, House Managers, and other House Assistants. House Assistants duties include (but are not limited to):

  • Engage in programming efforts for Rodin College House. These can include ongoing signature programs (such as Tower Hour and Sunday Brunch, Rodin Breaks ), annual events, academic programming (Rodin 24, faculty programming), House  Manager initiated programs
  • Collaboratively maintain display areas throughout Rodin (elevator banks, underground, Rooftop, etc.)
  • Assist with projects as directed by the House Director and House Coordinator
  • Collaborate with the House Managers to update Rodin social media and document Rodin programs.
  • Create flyers and develop other marketing tools for Rodin initiatives and events

Resource Room Expectations:

House Assistants are integral to maintaining and growing the Rodin Resource Room. The Rodin Resource Room is a central hub of activity in the House. House Assistants duties include (but are not limited to):

  • Serve students and House leaders using the Rodin Resource Room in a friendly and helpful manner according to scheduled shifts based off your availability
  • Handle inquiries from leaders, students and other Rodin stakeholders and refer as appropriate, requiring you to be knowledgeable about Rodin resources and policies
  • Assist with administrative duties as appropriate
  • Coordinate signup sheets and co-pays for Rodin events
  • Check out, check in, and follow up on overdue Rodin Resource Room equipment
  • Organize and maintain a clean environment in the Rodin Resource Room

Termination:

The appointment may be terminated prior to its normal expiration date if the Rodin College House Assistant fails to perform the above specified duties or for conduct at variance with that expected of a House Assistant, or if status as an undergraduate student in good standing (full time with a GPA of 2.0 or above and limited behavioral issues) lapses.
