House Resource Assistant

Compensation: $8.00/hour

The Rodin House Assistant team is committed to supporting the administrative functions of the House and maintaining Rodin's legacy as a place the residents can call their home away from home. House Resource Assistants help staff the Rodin Resource Room.  

Terms of Appointment:

  • 8-12 hours per week, including evening and some weekend hours
  • Attend regular staff meetings
  • If possible, we would prefer House Resource Assistants to move into their Rodin assignments by Wednesday, August 25, 2021 for the fall semester, with training starting on Thursday, August 26, 2021
  • Be available for Resource Room shifts to resume on Wednesday, January 12, 2022 for the spring semester

Eligibility:

  • Must have a minimum 2.50 GPA at the time of application, at the time of job offer, and at the end of the academic year prior to employment. Staff are expected to maintain the 2.50 GPA minimum each semester throughout employment
  • By employment start date, the House Resource Assistant must be a full time student at the University of Pennsylvania and resident of Rodin College House for the 2021-22 academic year in good standing with the University and within the College House system

General Expectations:

House Resource Assistants are integral to maintaining and growing the Rodin Resource Room. The Rodin Resource Room is a central hub of activity in the house. House Resource Assistants duties include (but are not limited to):

  • Serve students and staff using the Rodin Resource Room in a friendly and helpful manner
  • Handle all inquiries from staff, students and other Rodin stakeholders and refer as appropriate
  • Follow up with any questions or concerns in a timely and thorough fashion
  • Assist with administrative duties as appropriate
  • Manage signup sheets and co-pays for Rodin events
  • Check out, check in, and follow up on overdue Rodin Resource Room equipment
  • Organize and maintain a clean environment in the Rodin Resource Room
  • Create flyers and develop other marketing tools for Rodin initiatives and events
  • Coordinate programming initiatives within the Rodin Resource Room
  • Maintain bulletin boards on mezzanine level of Rodin College House
  • Assist in the administration of Rodin Interest Groups
  • Assist with projects as directed by the House Director and House Coordinator
  • Collaborate with the House Event Manager to update Rodin Social Media
  • Document Rodin Programs so we have photos for social media and our own records.

Termination:

The appointment may be terminated prior to its normal expiration date if the House Resource Assistant fails to perform the above specified duties or for conduct at variance with that expected of a House Resource Assistant, or if status as an undergraduate student in good standing (full time with a GPA of 2.5 or above and limited behavioral issues) lapses.
